This week the Tea Potters are send cheer Down Under to John, who loves reading and sailing among other things. My card is a mix of two cards: A couple weeks ago Faith, aka PeonySnail, made this cool card with the stack of books for another Tea Party MMTPT787 CC962 Friends by PeonySnail at Splitcoaststampers and I made a similar bg with the sailing ship for a Fan Club card a few years back.
I love Faith's stack of books that she personalized so I borrowed her idea. Found some free clipart of the books and added titles of novels that featured the sea.
I have 10,000 stamps (ok a bit of an exaggeration, but still a LOT) and only one ship and that is really a collage stamp. So I inked the boat and a bit of the surrounding collage elements with the Marvy Marker; masked the ship and then ink blended the sky and water.
Added the navy layer around the bg image and then onto the embossed brown panel and it's done. I really wanted the sentiment "Adventure Awaits" on the ship panel but no matter where I placed it, it looked off balance. So it ended up on the page of the bottom book.
For all my font buddies on this site, I used the following in order from top to bottom: Baskerville Old Face, Apple Braille. Verdana, Bernard MT, Corsiva Hebrew, Our Farmhouse and the sentiment is Dutch & Harley.
This week's Gallery is already filled with delightful images of carefree days on the sea. I hope John is transported and uplifted by all these wonderful cards. I Hope your day is carefree too. TFL

Great double take with the sea theme running through both. Never even thought of looking for a clipart book stack (since I had a small stamp) but love the sheer size of this AND the fact that you could type in your titles!!! Love the glow in that golden orange sky.

Debbie, I think you are going to amaze John with the titles on your stack of books! Excellent work and you used all different fonts to make the books look even more realistic! Great work also on your sailing scene! I know what you mean about having so many stamps and often not having the image you need! LOL

That’s quite the reading list for John..it should keep him busy during his recovery. The different fonts are great ( I know Jen will like those). I , too, have about 10,000 stamps ( joking I think) and had to really search for a sailboat. You card is lovely. You always put a lot of thought into them.

Love those stacked books and especially titled as they are (I can see why you borrowed the idea from Faith) and your sailboat with that gorgeously colored sea and sky all work together to make this one fab card!

Debbie, this is a fabulous card incorporating two of John’s interests! I love the stacked titled books and I know he has read a few of these titles, he is a prolific reader. The ship at sea looks terrific on the beautifully blended bg. I know John will love this and thank you for making this card for him~
