This is my card for alpha challenge round 18 letter L - logs, and for mixed media joy for January. I used all the prompts except for something metallic. I started by tearing some scraps of DP and randomly gluing them down. Then I crumpled some tissue paper, smoothed it slightly and glued it over the DP - a great way to use some DP that you don't care for the pattern or color, because the tissue paper pretty much mutes the color and hides the pattern. Then I added some pieces of corrugated cardboard, colored some gelatos on that and swiped some modeling paste over the gelatos, which blends the color a bit into the modeling paste. And then I got stuck, and really didn't know what to do with the background that I loved. This ended up sitting on my table for a few days. I would pick it up and look at it, and then set it back down. I tried a couple of things, but wasn't really satisfied. I wanted to incorporate logs for the alpha challenge. First I tried making some 'logs' by rolling up some paper bag strips. Made great logs, but just didn't work with my background. I finally remembered that I had this sizzix die and matching embossing folder that made embossed tree rings. I have two different sizes, and I've used the larger one, but I had never used this one, so that worked for one of the prompts. The rings are much larger, so I used deckle
scissors to trim them smaller. The bird fit perfectly sitting on the log. So I went and found this sentiment. I'm really pleased how this turned out. I really love this style, but always struggle to get to where I'm satisfied.

Very cool card and the words are so perfect for your bird on the logs, Melody. Great texture and lots and lots to look at. Super card. Hugz
