Ways To Use It - WT918 - Once Upon a Time - October 13, 2022
When I read the description for this challenge, I knew I definitely wanted to use this castle die, which I had not had a chance to try out yet. After I die cut all of the pieces, I ran the main panel and the two column pieces through my die cutting machine with an embossing folder that looks like stone. I used a dark gray marker to color over the raised stones. The two columns are raised up on foam tape.
I stamped, colored, and die cute the owl image.
I used black and white specked paper as a night sky. I wanted to do a night time scene to play up the punny sentiment even more.
At first, I did not have the kraft piece added as the ground. I finished the whole card and took the picture and when I went to upload it, I realized that everything was just floating against the night sky. It looked really funny, like it had drifted into outerspace. I had to very carefully remove the owl and the pathway, and then peel back the lower portion of the castle to add in the kraft piece as the ground. I glued everything back down again and it looks so much better!

I know what you mean about peeling back something to insert a missing piece...the pathway and sky etc...everything is fantastic! This is so fun and perfect for a fairy tale challenge!

The owl is just adorable, and the stone pattern on the castle is a great touch. (after seeing this card, I think the unembossed castle would look too bare.)
