My oldest son is newly engaged, and through this union, I've acquired a pseudo-great granddaughter. She is the same age range as are my three natural granddaughters, 2-1/2 to 5 years. She will be three years old on her birthday in a few weeks, and her birthday party will feature a dinosaur theme. I was excited to make this card because I've wanted to try this Fold for several months, and in March two of my granddaughters had a multi-theme birthday that included dinosaurs, but I had the Pop-up Box theme already in mind. Now, I was inspired, and I wanted to give dinosaur theme a go!
I found some cute digital papers and a darling line-art baby dinosaur to use. This gave me a good start, and my next task was to search out Splitcoaststamper challenges to fit for my "challenge catch-up" goal. From this search, I was reminded of the Standing Pop-Up card fold technique challenges.
The face of my card got so heavy with all the layers that it wouldn't stand up, so I invented a little paper fold "hinge" to insert into the hollow rectangular front platform. My "hinge" isn't a terribly difficult addition if done before this "box" is formed and while the cardbase is still flat, but it was tedious to insert the "hinge" with glue exposed into this hole after the box was formed!
I found 16 SCS challenges to enter while playing toward my "Challenge Catch-up" goal, and they are listed below:
.1) AOCC22 - All Occasions Card Challenge/ June - 6/1/22. An ongoing/monthly challenge that encourages you to set goals ahead for each month to help you complete and mail your cards more timely! A much needed June birthday card!
.2) USEIT2022 - Use It Challenge/ June 2022 - 6/1/22. An ongoing/ annual challenge that requires you to use OLD/ DUSTY and long unused items and/or OLD/NEW items purchased, never used, and seemingly forgotten! Old: Spellbinders Grand Labels Eleven, Cloud EF. Old/ New: Dino Day/ Dino Dies for my palm trees (purchased 6/4/19); SU--Little Letters Framelit dies (purchased 10/6/2014). It amazed me that I had never used them, but then I found I have a MemoryBox set somewhat similar called Varsity Letters/ Numbers that I have used at least six times in the last two years. I think I forgot about these SU letters & numbers!
3) S2S22APR - Stamp 2 Save (aka Stamp 2 Support One Another) Challenge/ Weather - 4/8/22. A monthly challenge originally to make cards to earn credit to purchase more stamping products, but evolved into a place to fulfill the monthly challenge, make friends, and support one another. I have depicted our Pacific Northwest April weather with an overcast day with gray clouds and no sun!
.4) CAS690 - Clean & Simple Challenge/ Babies - 5/16/22. Challenge: Let's celebrate all things baby...baby anything on your card. I have a baby dinosaur on my card.
.5) F4A628 - Free 4 All Challenge/ Green - 3/4/22. Challenge: Add lots of green to your card...any theme you wish! My card is loaded with green in the form of a FOLD-style card.
.6) TSBT722 - Twisted Sisters Bus Tour #7 Challenge/ Standing Pop-Up Card - 2/1/22. Monthly challenges created by fellow bus passengers to hone their crafting skills. Bus passengers become great crafting friends while chatting and supporting one another on their journey. I made this fun Standing Pop-Up card!
. MMJ622 - Messy, Mixed & Joyful/ June Prompts - 6/1/21. Challenge: choose at least 2 prompts listed: denim or jean-type material; vegetable; dancing or music; royalty (queen); feature a quote; 2 shades of green; embossing fold w/raised design. I used GREEN added a raised design with the Cloudy Days embossing folder.
.9) MIX425 - Mix-ability Challenge/ For the Kids - 3/19/21. Challenge: Make a card you'd send to a kid for a birthday, etc. What kid doesn't like dinosaurs? Mediums: Copic markers, water-based dye stamping ink, dye-based computer ink, Sharpie black marker.
.10) MMTPT650 - Teapot Challenge/ Use Your Imagination - 1/5/21. Challenge: 3 quarantined boys and bored...add a fun element to your card. What boy doesn't like dinosaurs! As I'm late to the party, my card will be used for a much needed girl birthday card (thus, why it became a girl dinosaur card instead of a boy dinosaur card!)
.11) FS725 - Featured Stamper Challenge/ The Yellow Rose (aka yellowrose46 = Ina!) - 12/27/20. Ina, you have a wonderful gallery and I always enjoy browsing! I chose this card of Ina's for Standing Pop-Up FOLD technique: Sailing the World. I kept the Fold technique, but changed everything else about my card. (After all I wanted to make a 3-year old dinosaur birthday card!)
.12) IC776 - Inspiration Challenge/ Halloween Costumes - 10/17/20. Challenge: Find a Halloween costume to inspire you. I chose this infant dinosaur costume to inspire me: Infant Sleepy Green Dino! (Side note: the title color is called Alien Green...lol!)
..13) ABC13Q17 - Alphabet Challenge/ Letter Q - 7/22/20. My letter Q = Quaesitosaurus, a dinosaur with a long neck and tail with spots on his back, somewhat similar to the more well known Brontosaurus in body shape.
.14) TLC754 - Technical Challenge/ EOINA: Camouflage or Eclipse - 8/5/19. Use Camouflaging technique (TLC540) or the Two Tier Eclipse tutorial with WORD dies. I added AMARA's name in the Eclipse technique.
.15) WT750 - Ways to Use It Challenge/ Impress Me! - 7/25/19 - Challenge: ink up those embossing folds. I used blending brush very lightly to add some gray to negative BG side of the folder. Then, I inked the raised side of the fold to make the clouds outline dots gray for an overcast look to the day (typical of a Northwest spring day).
.16) CT0818 - Fan Club Monthly Themes/ Alphabet Soup - 8/15/18. My card meets the monthly theme as it utilizes one of the suggested interpretations: to use the Eclipse Technique, which I did on AMARA's name (3 stacks of each letter adding depth and dimension as required).

Our challenge queen is at it again! I can't even imagine meeting 16 challenges. And this is such a delightful card. I love that dinosaur digi. The way you created this tropical forest scene is fun too and kids always love to see their own namevon a card.

Omigosh, you found some delightful dp and one cute dino-chick. What an adorable card. Love all the fun elements you added to create this delight. I image you new GGD will adore this. The personalization is fab and kids really love seeing themselves or their names on things. Perfect!

I'm not into dinosaurs, but I have to say that these are two of the Sweetest dinosaurs I've ever seen, Carlene! I'm certain this card was a "hit" with the little one~
