Considering I had no real plan, this came together quickly, which I'm grateful for, since I'm heading out of town. This is for yesterday's WT (a doily), today's MIX (MOMumental) and the May prompts for MMJ2022. For that challenge, I used blue, spray, lace doily, text.
I miss my Mom terribly. She was born in 1927, died in 2016. As her Alzheimer's took over, she thought I was her Mom at times. Her Mom, Lillian Catherine Kaiser Weinert died at age 48 in 1953; I have no memory, even though I have pictures of me sitting on her lap. My Mom never recovered from that. Isn't she gorgeous? The photo was her engagement photo. My parents met by a blind date; my Dad told her mutual friend that he would check her out from afar before coming up and introducing himself...the rest is history. Unfortunate to just choose a mate on looks but that's the way it was and still is.
Everything on this piece is from my stash. Many different techniques, including inking an EF, gel printing, spraying the doily and the stash SU frame. Mom loved flowers and until memory issues took over, she knew all the different species. She would never throw a leaf away if it broke off, always would put it in rooting soil. She was also good at crosswords and Jeopardy. And she was a Brewer and Packer fan. I chose some of her jewelry to add to the frame...my Dad often bought her jewelry for gifts. The doily belonged to my paternal Grandma; Mom probably isn't that happy to share billing with Grandma, as their relationship was a bit strained, probably because of her Mom dying so young. My Mom was sort of an enigma, never quite knew what she was thinking or feeling. But she was a lovely Mom, sacrificed a lot for us.

Gosh, Jean, what a special card. The photo, the doily - the amazing backgrounds. I love the frame, I've been thinking it's one of those things I need to pull out and use. The added jewellery is such a personal touch.

Your mom is beautiful! Thank you for sharing the story of your mom and dad too. I am sure that even though the connection was initially on looks, I am sure once he got to know her that is how she hooked him. I bet she was an amazing person and he saw that in her.
I love the doily tucked behind her image too. Beautiful card in tribute to your mom.

What a striking photo of your mother! I love the old black and white photos...the women looked like movie stars! I have several of my mom, too. Fabulous card created in honor of your mom!

Lovely story. I miss my mom too who died too soon to really get to know her grandchildren. Your tribute card is beautiful. Lovely to see the picture of the woman the card honours!
