I used patterned paper for the background, including a 1/2 inch strip at the bottom to ground the hippo and give him something to stand on.
I fussy cut the hippo and then went around the edges with a black marker, to hide the white edges. I used a black pen to make the squares of chocolate. i used a white gel pen for the eyes and to make the teeth look whiter.
Sentiments read: (left side) Chocolate is cheaper than therapy and you don't need an appointment! (right side) Chocolate is the answer. Who cares what the question is!
