This is my sample for the Color Challenge hosted by Barbara. She selected some fun & bright colors with the dessert option of Summer. I need a summer birthday card for a friend who loves bumble bees. I love them on paper but avoid them in real life because I am highly sensitive to a bee sting with lots of swelling & pain. I have summertime memories of being stung by a bee after running barefoot through the grass or picking flowers. Mostly I remember having fun outside on summer break!
I started with an idea I cased from a SU! catalog. I glued scraps of cardstock on a strip of white and then trimmed to put a multi-colored strip at the bottom of my card. A great way to use those scraps! Next time I will glue a whole panel and cut into various size strips, instead of just one.
I stamped the flowers and bees from a two-step stamp set. The solid flower stamp was stamped off and the outline was full ink. The yellow center was stamped with the bee body and dotted with my Calypso Coral marker. I also used the CC marker to dot a trail behind the bees. Wink of Stella was applied to the bee trail and the wings. I did not think the WOS would show up on white, but it does and looks beautiful & sparkly. The WOS was also put on the flower centers.
The sentiment came from a Honey Bee Stamps set that was gifted to me. I love all the fun puns related to bees and honey. I colored just the word BEE with yellow and applied some glitter. Super fun card to make with these sweet colors. My friend will think it is bee-utiful.
I cannot wait to see what you create! TFL

Diane your friend will be delighted to receive this happy and fun card! I love the stripes on the bottom, they provide a great base for your flowers and bees. I must say, I LOVE the idea of adding color to the Bee part of your sentiment, it definitely makes a statement! This is so inspiring, thank you for sharing!
