WCW-paint a luna moth. I happened to have a luna moth stamp because I think they are breathtaking. I have never seen one, sadly. I found this quite easy to paint; the Kuretaki paints were new to me, they're quite rich and creamy and delightful to work with. I splattered with the Cosmic Shimmer, also added a bit of that to the moth. I agree with the artist; moths are under-rated. I find them so interesting.
Today's F4A- along with Claude Monet, I'm grateful for nature, my favorite creating theme.
Today's MIX fit in so perfectly: create like Monet. I looked up some things about him and watched a video. Claude was his middle name, Oscar being his first. His father didn't approve of his artist life and basically disowned him. His mother died when he was young and Monet did suffer on and off with depression, even trying to drown himself. I'd always thought he had a lovely life, lived until he was 86, revered when he was alive, so I was surprised to learn that. The video I watched said that Monet coined the word 'impressionism' when he named a painting 'Impression of a Sunrise.' He is known for with plein air painting (painting in nature, not in a studio). Apparently, until the early 20th century, paint brushes were only round; a flat brush was invented which led to a technique called 'tache' which means touch. One takes that flat brush and touches the background with the flat of the brush, creating rectangles overlapping. I used several colors, not mixing them completely so that you can see many bits of color in one stroke. I guess 'tache' became more popular as artists moved through the 20th century, particularly around WWII. I created the background and thought, 'wow, this does look Monet-esque'. The thing with his work is you need to stand far away to see the full effect, like the water lilies. Up close, all you see is color. I am quite pleased with this combo of the luna moth and the Monet background.

Super job on your card. I love the background and the beautiful moth. Interesting facts about Monet. Sad, too, that his father disowned him over being an artist and his mother dying when he was young.

OH MY! really really stunning! : ) great composition and hope someone frames this after receiving it... or just keep it and frame / treasure it! Take good care, Teresa
Faved! Wow! Your background really does look like a Monet! I love your Luna Moth! I think it's so fun to start with a stamp! I love the purple you added. I had googled a pic and saw the purple parts as brown but later I saw most of the pics actually had purple. Next time! You created a stunning piece of art.
