This card was made for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Change #447. Where the sketch showed fall leaves, I kept seeing snowflakes! For purposes of photographing the card, the shiny cardstock and papers don't work so well, but it's really beautiful in person!
The dark blue background panel is from Stampin' Up! (SU) "Noble Peacock" foil sheets. I embossed it with the SU "Softly Falling" embossing folder, then used a sanding block to remove the tops of the individual dots so that the white core of the paper showed through. The light blue element in the sketch was created using the embossed snowflakes die from the same die set as was used for all the different snowflakes.
The silver smaller rectangle was cut from the Bazzill silver mylar using the Sizzix "Dotted Rectangles" dies.
The final element was the sentiment, which is from the new SU "Holly Jolly Wishes" stamp set. It is stamped using SU Not Quite Navy ink onto white cardstock, then die cut using the SU "Stitched Shapes" dies. I popped the circle up using adhesive foam tape.
I think someone special will get this card for the holidays! I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "2" out of a possible "5" since all the different dies make it so easy to make. Some special tips are to be very careful when you sand the raised dots on the dark blue foil since where the dots are widely spaced, it's easy to scratch the flat areas (which you don't want). Also, while most of the card was assembled using liquid glue, for the snowflakes, I used a adhesive runner so that the glue wouldn't ooze out of the openings or leave residue on the foil layers below them (always a bane when using foil).
