I missed my Mom's birthday...shame on me! I decided to send an "I love you," a day brighter, belated birthday, thinking of you, and thank you card all rolled into one! I made her card from the last pieces left from the June 2020 Paper Pumpkin kit---Box of Sunshine. This was the first kit I purchased, and I loved its bright and cheerful papers, sentiments, and elements. Of course, I can never make the cards as suggested in the kit, and this one is no exceptions. Since this was my first kit, I did not make any extravagant changes or additions.
I wanted more color and pizzazz. I enlarged my card to 4-3/4 x 6-inches by adding a new black card base and Poppy Parade color layer below the alcohol-ink-like dsp background paper provided. I added ink-distressing to the paper edges and sequins to add sparkle, and I finished it off with an inside design and verse to suit the occasion. I was happy with the additions as it really made my card POP!
I'm always playing my Challenge Catch-up cardmaking finding numerous Splitcoaststamper challenges that fit the occasion, design, and theme of my cards. I found 13 challenges for this one from several months old to several years old. They are listed below:
1) F4A601 - Free 4 All Challenge/ Fruits & Veggies! - 8/27/21. Make a card with fruits and/or veggies....Lemons!
2) CT0821 - Fan Club Monthly Themes--August 2021/ Kitchen Sink - 8/16/21. My card uses the challenge's food interpretation of the theme...citrus fruit/ lemons.
3) AOCC21 - All Occasion Card Challenges/ August 2021 - 8/1/21. This challenge is monthly and encourages you to set goals ahead for each month to help you complete and mail your cards timely! This is a much needed "everything" card, including an August belated birthday card for my Mom.
4) USEIT2021 - Use It Challenge/ August 2021 - 8/1/21. This is an ongoing/ annual challenge requiring you to use old, long unused items gathering dust AND/OR old/ new items purchased but seemingly forgotten...never opened or used! used! My old items are the leftover Paper Pumpkins elements from the June 2020 Box of Sunshine: simulated alcohol ink dsp, lemon/ leaf die-cuts, and irregular hexagon sentiment label.
5) ABC14A1 - Alphabet Challenge/ A=Autumn - 10/7/20. I have used Autumn colors on my Lemon Brightening card!
6) WT812 - Ways to Use It Challenge/ How Will I use This? - 10/1/20. Challenge to find an item in your stash you've been holding onto...use it. I had been saving the last paper and elements from the Paper Pumpkin Box of Sunshine for June 2020, and I decided to make it up into a special card to celebrate my mother with a brighten your day, belated birthday, love you, thinking of you, and an encouragement card all rolled into one! This was my first Paper Pumpkin kit, and I so loved the papers and elements provided!
7) S2S20JUN - Stamp 2 Save (aka Stamp 2 Support One Another)/ Say Something Nice - 6/4/20. Challenge to make a card that says something nice and send it. This card is for my Mom...a card for multiple reasons...encouraging, love you, belated birthday, thinking of you, and even a thank you...all rolled into one and summarized in the inside verse!
IC751 - Inspiration Challenge/ Unsplash - 4/25/20. A website full of images...I found this inspiration: Citrus & Fruits!. I was inspired by the colorful fruit, especially the yellow lemons! Fruit colors were incorporated into the cardstock and background dsp.
9) CAS571 - Clean & Simple Challenge/ Simply Die-Cuts - 2/3/20. This challenge requires the use of die-cuts in its design. My card uses lots of die-cuts...a rectangle, two lemon shapes, leaf shapes, and a sentiment label.
10) MMTPT568 - Teapot Challenge/ Sunrise/ Sunset - 6/11/19. Use yellow and colors in sunrises or sunsets...make it uplifting. As I'm late to the party, I will send my card to my mother. I've used yellows, ambers, oranges and reds often seen in sunrise or sunset skies, plus a card to brighten your day!
11) CC696 - Color Challenge/ Enjoy Pineapple Punch, Pears, and Calypso Coral - 7/17/18. Make a card using colors similar to these challenge colors: Pineapple Punch, Calypso Coral, and Pear Pizzazz. I've used a pineapple yellow in my lemons and the simulated alcohol-ink background dsp, a Pear Pizzazz and darker green in my leaves, and a dark coral (more like Poppy Parade) in the background dsp and layering. I've added black and white neutrals to finish.
12) SC657 - Sketch Challenge - 8/9/17. Sketch Tweak: Rectangle Layer #4 is represented by my lemons. I have placed the #3 horizontal rectangle below #4 instead of on top and made is an irregular hexagon shape to host my sentiment. I have added a 2 color layers below the #1 card front.
13) FS648 - Featured Stamper/ She May have a Greyhound Now, but back then...(aka whippetgirl - 7/7/19. I chose this card Beautiful Lemons! for my inspiration because of the beautiful day sentiment, the lemon theme, and the border layering. I kept to a similar sentiment about brightening your day, the lemons and the rectangular layering. I did not incorporate stitching; I stamped my sentiment onto an irregular hexagon label rather than directly onto the card front. My lemons are die-cuts and not fussy cut lemons. My color scheme is more autumn hues than spring.

What a happy card. I love the bright colors and that great ai dp background -- perfect with your sentiment. Great lemons too. I'm sure your mom made "lemonade" with this delightful card and appreciated the fun, love, and thanks included here. Great card.
