I wanted to use the Wreath Builder template for this card, since I knew the "Autumn Wreath Builder" stamp set has a pumpkin in it. I know I could have used just the pumpkin stamp without creating a wreath, but I thought I'd just practice my wreath-stamping skills. I took a clue from Holly's challenge write-up and decided to go with rainbow pumpkins. Since the Wreath Builder has 8 sections, I chose that many colors for my pumpkins. Basically, the ROY G BIV colors plus pink. I began with stamping the pumpkins, and then built inwards with other images from both the original & Autumn Wreath Builder stamp sets. Instead of using orange for one of the pumpkins, I went with a bold warm yellow instead.
I had initially planned to cut the 4" square panel in half, & split it across the top & bottom of my card, covering the gap in between the panels with a greeting strip. But after I finished stamping, I thought, what would it look like if I sliced it in half diagonally? So, I decided to take a chance, & did just that. I used my grid mat to help me line up the resulting triangles in a 4x5-1/4" area. I tacked each triangle to a strip of scrap paper, just so I could work with them as one unit. I must admit, I was a bit surprised at how the halves of the wreath didn't line up exactly, but I kind of like how it turned out. I don't know that I've ever seen this done - maybe I invented something? ;)
I die cut my greeting, & adhered it to a white cardstock strip. I matted the greeting strip with a pale teal cardstock, & adhered that to the paper backing I had adhered my image panels to. I used my scissors & my paper trimmer to trim off the excess of the greeting strip, & finally adhered everything to an orange card front, that I'd mounted to a white card base. To fill in the centers of the peach flowers, I added a Crystal sequin to each.
