This card has taken me over 7 years to make. The die is from 2013 and though I always had the idea of cutting the hats out of felt, I could never get it just right.
But finally the sketch layout at FMS509 helped make it finally come together. All the hats are cut from Ellen Hutsons felt line. Behind the hats there is a layer of Picket Fence Snowwhite Paper Glaze mix in with just a bit of their Paper Glitz. The frame die is from Taylored Expressions and is the perfect size. The die in intended to be for a mini slimline, but I needed the width in order to have the red and black trim, so this card is actually 5.75 X 4.5. There are two layers of foam tape under the frame and two levels of the card stock frame. I needed it to really sit up to protect the hats.
The hats were a bear to cut. They are so small and that elf hat just kept breaking off at the tip; which is why its just plain. I didnt dare try and embellish it.
Its rare that I like a card I make, but this one is just so much fun. I need to make another just so I have one to keep.
The sentiment is from SU and actually has dotted lines that run below the words, but I covered the dots when inking up the stamp so that only the sentiment would appear. The dots just didnt work with the rest of the design.
Edit: does anyone know why using an apostrophe keeps modifying my posts and adding (TM) and other characters?
