This Christmas card was made for two different card challenges; one was a sketch and the second challenged us to make a "peek-a-boo" card and use twine.
I had just gotten the super cute Stampin' Up! (SU) "Penguin Playmates" Designer Series Paper (DSP) and it's full of so many cute penguins, polar bears, foxes and snowmen! I thought a cute polar bear peeking out of a die cut circle would be perfect for these two challenges.
The sketch lended itself to a "side fold card" perfectly. I used the Splitcoaststampers tutorial for the measurements. You can find them here: Side Fold Card Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers
The "ice" paper is from the SU "Sand & Sea" DSP. The card base is SU Night of Navy. I used Spellbinders dies to cut the scalloped circle, then their standard circle dies to cut the opening in the scalloped circle as well as the hole through the card front.
The cute polar bear was cut out using my ScanNCut to scan, then cut him out with just a 0.04" border. I then used this same shape to cut out two blank shapes to blue behind him to make him stand up off the surface of the inside of the card.
I chose the green & white bakers twine to tie around the non-opening left border of the card before I glued it shut to form the "hinge" of this type of card.
Finally, the wavy Christmas sentiment was stamped at the bottom of the card using SU Night of Navy ink to match the card's base.
The card was super simple to make and assemble. Using my ScanNCut meant I didn't even have to fussy cut the polar bear! I am rating the difficulty level for this card as a "2" out of a possible "5".
