I'm using the old painters tape technique to add strips of color to the background. Dawn Griffith did a gray/black-tone card with this technique and the raven that led me to my design here. Thanks Dawn!
Cut a strip of painters tape (I used 1-1/4 inch wide) 4-5 inches long. I cut one piece for each of the 3 colors (blackberry, curry and granite). Press the center area lightly into the stamp pad, rub your finger gently back and forth across the top side of the painters tape to pick up the ink. Even though I applied very light pressure, I found I had to 'stamp off' about 3 times each strip to get it light enough -- I laid the tape on scrap paper and ran my finger over the top, picked it up and did it again, then one more time if it still needed it....then I put it to the actual card layer. Repeat process as many times as you want, using gray granite, then blackberry bliss, then crushed curry.
