This card was made for a sketch challenge that had an optional part requiring the use of embellishments.
I bought this Hampton Arts Halloween Cat clear stamp set in 2013. I love to pull it out because the cat is fun to color. The sketch was of an oval main shape on the front, with a stripe running full length down the right had side.
I stamped the cat on the pumpkin image using Versafine Onyx Black ink because it makes such fantastic dark images with just a single inking. I stamp her on thick white cardstock then hand colored her.
Next I scanned her into my ScanNCut and cut her out with a 0.04" white outline. Before deleting the digital file of the cat outline I cut two more blank white outlines, which I glued to the back of the colored image. This raises the cat up off the surface of the card front to give more dimension. The stamp set also had a cute dangling spider, so I stamped it and cut it and three extra outlines. I glued two of these to the back of the stamped spider, then trimmed off just a smidgen of the top of the hanging web before I glued it on. This allowed me to glue the spider onto the card front so it was the same height above the card surface as the cat, and left a thinner top to glue right over the purple hat.
The spider web in the top left corner was stamped directly onto the card surface using the same black ink.
Before I glued the cat onto the card front I trimmed 3/4" off the right side of the card front, then glued a 1" wide piece of purple cardstock to the back inside of the card show it would show when the card is closed (thus matching the sketch part of the challenge).
My embellishment is the green rhinestone on the purple witches hat.
I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "2" out of a possible "5". Coloring the image was a breeze, and using the ScanNCut to cut it out was super quick and simple. Can't wait to send it to my 9-yr old grand-daughter who lives 1,000 miles away!
