This card was made for a challenge that asked us to use an "animal pun". Right away I thought of this 2005 Stampin' Up! (SU) "Best of Cluck" stamp set that had several chicken pun sentiments.
I'm not sure of the name of this kind of fun fold card, so if anyone knows what it's called, please leave a comment below. It's a single sheet of piece of brown cardstock (measurements listed below), to which a piece of brown, folded in half, is glued around it so the front is essentially a half-high card that swings open. The top inside half of the card forms the background for the vertical chick panel.
I stamped the chicken with Versafine black ink (I love how crisp it stamps!), then scanned and cut it out with my digital ScanNCut CM350 cutting machine. While the chick outline was already stored in the machine, I had it cut out two more blank white outline shapes which I glued behind the stamped image for added dimension. The chicken image was colored with Copic markers.
The chicken is "standing" on a curved stitched die cut from Lawn Fawn.
The chicken panel is attached to a panel of the pink cardstock to which I glued a "chicken wire" die cut.
Finally, the sentiment was stamped with Versafine black ink onto white cardstock, then die cut with a stitched oval die, which was then matted with the same SU Grapefruit Grove cardstock as used for the chicken panel. The oval piece was then mounted on the card front using foam tape.
On the inside of the card I glued a pink panel the same size as the one on the front of the card so it was hidden when the card is closed.
Here are the card measurements:
Cinnamon Cider -
4-1/4"x 5-1/2" (inside piece)
2-3/4"x 8-1/2" (folded in half and
wrapped around inside piece)
Grapefruit Grove -
2-1/2" x 3" (mat for chicken panel)
2-1/2" oval
Petal Pink -
2-1/2"x 4" (background for chicken wire)
2"x 2-3/4" (background for chicken)
Basic White -
2-1/4" oval
scrap for stamping chicken
Smoky Slate -
2-1/2" x 4" (a bit larger piece for die cutting
chicken wire)
1-1/2"x 2" (a bit larger for piece for die
cutting "hill")
I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "2" out of a possible "5" since I've given you all the panel measurements.
