I missed the IC challenge on Saturday - so looked through the Sumcoco Pinterest site today (Sunday) and found this awesome video of a 1" square woven basket and just had to try it! I can't seem to link to the direct one - so check 7 rows down 3rd one in to find this video!
They made theirs from some kind of living green stem - but I used Bazzill dotted paper - I had to watch the video about 10 times freezing it at each step to see what they did!
I used a piece of green floral wire for the handle. I inserted the ends into the weave with glue to hold it there. I die cut a stem and sponged it with Shabby Shutters ink and added Prima flowers to it. I die cut the tag and knotted it onto the handle adding a dot of glue so it would stay in place. I added green basket shred to hold my stem in place.
I love my little floral basket and have to make some more before I forget how I did it.
To make my basket, I cut 2 strips 12" x 1/2" and 8 strips 11" x 1/2". You fold them all in half and then weave the shorter ones around the two longer ones (you'll have to watch the video! 'cause I cannot explain the weaving in words!)
there are SO many cute 3D things on the Pinterest site - I'm going back to take a longer look! Thanks Julie for the fun site!
