I'm not sure why, but when I saw the sketch, I thought of a wooden flower box full of succulents. So I turned to my Stampin' Up! (SU) "Simply Succulents" stamps and dies to create this card.
I started by using a large SU stamp called "Hardwood" that I stamped onto a tan cardstock using a very dark brown ink. I then cut a 1-1/2"x5" rectangle from the stamped image for the box, and two 1/2"x2" "legs" for the sides. I glued these together to create the box planter. To the back I attached three more rectangles to lift it off the card front a bit, and then added adhesive foam strips to raise it even more.
The succulent plants were stamped from the succulent stamp set, then colored with every shade of green Copic marker I had :-) I used extra brush strokes near the base of most leaves to give them visual dimension. The tips of two of the plants had small wisps of dark pink for added color and interest.
After die cutting the plants out, I decided that a black "garden gate" look behind them would look nice, so used the background die from the same set to create it.
The card was then assembled with the black layer first, then the flower box (which I had wrapped with jute twine), then the four die-cut plants. The center plant was mounted to the card using adhesive foam strip for dimension. The other three plants were glued directly onto the card.
As a final touch, I used black ink to stamp the sentiment (from SU "Petite Pairs") onto the same dark pink cardstock as the card base. It was die cut using the label die from the succulent die set. The sketch required an embellishment in each of the four corners of the card, so I used small black enamel dots that I thought looked like black bolts you would see a wrought iron fence built with.
I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "3" out of a possible "5" because of the need to do all the coloring and "weeding" of the little parts from black the background die.
