With the exception of the black sentiment, all the black and gray you see on this card was from applying heat with an iron and a heat gun onto a thermal mailing label. It's a technique I discovered which I'm proud to say was recently featured in the latest Holiday 2020 Issue #210 of Rubberstampmadness Magazine. Since Teapot recipient Teresa is a card maker, I will be enclosing a copy of the instructional article and the labels needed so she can experiment. I will be happy to send a PDF of the article to you if you're interested. Just send me a PM.

That is a really interesting look and technique. So many shadows and patterns from the heat. Congrats on discovering this and being recognized in the Rubberstampmadness Magazine. That is awesome -- as is your card. And, I am sure Theresa will appreciate the instructions and labels to try out herself. Cool gift -- hmmmmm -- now that I think of it, it is probably a Hot gift. LOL. Hugs.

OMG Lori this is just the coolest ever and congrats on being featured in Rubberstampmadness. This is perfect for a sympathy card. You are a fabulous artist...thanks for sharing this. As a cardmaker I'm sure Theresa will be thrilled to get this and the article.

WTG Lori! and published in the Holiday Issue no less . . . at first my mind went "huh?" and then I went "oh yeah" . . as I realized with the heat we have in the southwest, thermal receipts would often turn black just from getting in a hot car. The trick is definitely how to control WHERE the heat goes and you sure have that down to a fine art. Beautiful look with the smooshed pinks & blues in the bg.

How very cool! The shadow tree looks lovely with the soft background colours, and the texture is cool.
I remember trying to heat-emboss one of my Brother printer labels for a TPT challenge a few years back and that's when I discovered they were heat-sensitive. Well done on finding such a creative way to use that property.
