I still don't like the ghosting technique. I tried it with glossy paper like the tutorial said, and I tried it with Neenah Exact Index because I'm not satisfied with my glossy try. I let the ink dry just like the tutorial says. I can't get a good image. You can just about see the swirls on the left, but on the right it's just the Worn Lipstick ink rubbed off the paper. It's kind of a neat soft background anyway for my chef, but I don't care to do it again. I just can't do spooky, so I stuck with this cute bear that I cut off at the waist and turned him into a chef. He's really a pandemic stamp, sitting in his pajamas with his toilet paper and hand sanitizer, making homemade bread. You can still get the freebie here. Pretty funny, actually. But I needed another cooking themed card for my friend.

What an adorable image Jen! I think your background turned out great! Hoping to give the technique a go today. I usually don't have much luck with it either, but I really like your bg!

Oh sheesh, Jen, I think you're being too fussy. I can see the swirls really well. I do think, and I remember this from years back, that a darker colour usually works better - hence my attempt with seedless preserves. It does work fairly well on plain paper too - my plain piece is sitting on my desk waiting for another day. I don't know why I struggled with it this time round...
I knew I recognised that bear but with the way you've set him behind his counter he looks so different. I think that this turned out really well even if you didn't feel happy with it.

Great swirly background for your sweet little bear chef!

The card by itself is adorable and really funny. You can see the subtle effect of the technique in your background. I just completely avoided the whole mess and made a Halloween card myself.
