I have long admired mixed media..and so tonight I tried my hand at it. I painted the dictionary pages with watercolors. The rectangle panel is collaged postage stamps. I used watercolor and acrylic paints to paint a bird in the style of Ed Emberly. I used a sharpie to outline details on the bird...as well as a doodle border frame around the dictionary page.
I'd say that was mixed media! Feeling accomplished!

Great job! I love how you painted the bird. I have many Ed Emberly books from when my boys were younger and am thinking I may have to pull them out! TFS!

I love a good postage stamp collage. I save all stamps. This is so fabulous, Dawn. From the fun hand drawn and watercolored bird to the stamps. And I can't stop myself from seeing a zebra striped giraffe in the background. I see a long striped neck, eyes where the sequin and music note are, the music note forms an ear, and the bird on the stamp and the double note shape the face, and stripey hair spikes up over the eyes. Do you see it? Isn't it cool?
