Why not do both of the retiform techniques? I hadn't done this one in a long time and I certainly took some liberties with it. I tore my masking paper and then I realized that I couldn't line it up properly to do the second color. Oh well, making it up as I go. I used Distress victorian velvet, antique linen and vintage photo. Pulled out my old swirl clear stamps from so long ago and an old SU set with music themed stamps. I'm picky about music themed stamps, they must be accurate. I added a piece from my old dictionary for the ABC challenge: V is for violin. Sponged a bit around the edges of that.

V is for vintage too, and beautifully so. Your quote is very close to the one I used on a card for tomorrow. I need to revisit classic retiform myself!

Another technique that you nailed. I am going to try them both when I get chance. Great card for the V alpha challenge too. TFS. Happy day
