DH wanted a birthday card for one of his best friends. I said it would be hard to come up with anything to beat the workbench I made him last year, which apparently is still on the shelf in his study. but DH likes this (and he picked the stamp set to use himself).
I stamped and embossed the main image and coloured it - Inktense pencils for the foreground, re-inkers for the sky. When dry I stamped the verse in and trimmed it down. The piece of gold was on my desk unused from something else (TH mixed media die, cut from a tomato paste tube) so I added it in the corner, with an anchor cut from silver card. I used some nautical themed DP, stitched round the edge with grey, and with the edges sponged with vintage photo and walnut stain. To finish, I popped-up a die-cut flying seabird, to echo the ones in the stamped image. Now to make an envelope...

Sabrina this is stunning. So much depth in this card and so beautifully colored. All the elements work so well together but that bird is the cherry on top. Don’t know what the work bench looked like, but this just might replace it in that shelf. Great card.

Isn't that tough when you make someone such an awesome card that you just can't top it. I've got some people on my list like that. Regardless, you've made a gorgeous creation that should sit right next to that work bench. Beautiful card!

You say "stitched around the sides" like it is nothing. LOL.
That workbench card was really cool.
I dont know how but this has the feeling of a shadowbox to me. The frame of the stamp feels "forward" It is probably just my eyes....
Lot of fun add ons. I am sure he will like it.
