The Friday Free For All Challenge, F4A549 - 8/28/20 - Girl Time, was to feature a girl or gang of girls on your project.
This challenge was WAY out of my comfort zone! As a general rule, I avoid doing images with people in them because I am intimidated by coloring skin tones, hair and facial expressions. But after spending the week participating in Dare to Get Dirty Challenges for the first time, I figured I was seasoned and ready tackle the intimidating Girl Challenge!
My selection of people stamps is limited, so I was delighted to rediscover this sweet image given to me by a friend several years ago. This is the first time itâs seen daylight, let alone ink!! What really pleased me about this image is that it was a rear view of the girls - no faces to color, only arms and legs! Yeah!!
I stamped the image on regular 100# white card stock using amalgam ink (good for WC or alcohol ink). After I did this, I decided I wanted to watercolor the scene.
Bad plan...using water on regular card stock is dicey, at best! My Plan B was to avoid water altogether and use a SU blender pen in conjunction with the watercolor pencils. It wasnât as satisfying as doing regular watercolors, but it was much more predictable, which in this case worked out well.
Nothing fancy in the design - image was stamped & colored on separate panel and cut to fit the back of scalloped frame. I added some foam tape to separate the panels to add dimension. I finished it off with some thin tatting thread wrapped behind the small stitched oval sentiment.
Canât wait to surprise my friend with this girly card!
. It was so fun to participate in this challenge. Why donât you play along?
Thanks for taking a peek at my sweet friends card.

What a sweet friendship card! It's water colored so beautifully and all the soft colors and dainty frame make it a keeper. I'm sure your friend will love it as it looks like it came from your heart.

This is gorgeous, Susy! Funny, I used an image gifted to me a long while ago too. Love your framing, and I really like the back view too! This brings back to my memory a lazy stroll in the summer with a good friend. Your twine treatment is really fun! Love this and I am sure your friend will too. What fun to surprise her with this. Way to take up the challenge!
