Card for Sharon's (smadson) Mini VSN Challenge, Summertime Blues. We are to use at least 2 shades of blue on our card; mine has 3!
Created the background by smooshing the 2 DOX inks onto a craft mat, spritzing with water, & dipping the mixed media paper in, drying between dips with my heat tool. Blended Salty Ocean along the edges.
I thought this piece would look great on some sparkly black paper, but I didn't have any, so I created my own by running the Versamark pad along the edges of another piece of mixed media paper, dipping it in the sparkly black EP, & heat-embossing.
Stamped the sand dollar onto the silver CS with Versamark, & heat embossed with the Black Sparkle EP. Stamped the sentiment onto the silver CS with Versamark, & heat embossed with the Bold Black EP.
Sponged the card edges with Salty Ocean. Punched the corners on the sentiment, adhered it & the sand dollar to black CS, popped up on the card front over a scrap of silver mesh. TFL!
(Looked at the gallery before uploading my card--I guess I sort of CASE'd Ann's (annsforte3) lovely card,Under the Blue Sea! Even tho I just now looked at the gallery....)

Beautiful! I love that the sparkly embossing on the background looks like netting. I wouldn't have thought to do something like that to draw the eye to the image/sentiment, but it's very effective.Adding to my faves so I can remember - thanks!

Your card is gorgeous Liz! I love the deep, rich blue color you achieved to showcase this wonderful sand dollar and sentiment by. You were very creative in coming up with your own black sparkly layer for this card (note to self, I need to think outside the box more often!). The sparkle and shine on this card give it that wonderful underwater appearance I love so much! ~Karen.

Gorgeous! Love the blues and the sparkle and shine. Love the sand dollar with the blue background. How creative of you to create your own glimmer paper. Very nicely done!
