I created this card inspired by Cathy Zielske's lesson on embossing with stencils for Online Card Classes' "Spring Card Camp 2."
The stencil I chose is larger than an A2 card size, so I decided to dry-emboss with just part of it. Unfortunately (for some unknown-to-me reason), the cardstock around where the stencil embossed kind of creased in places. :( So I decided to cut that part off, but still preserve the stencil embossing. Working on the back of the panel, I used a ruler to measure 1/8" away from each of the outer points of the stencil, made a tick mark at each spot with a pencil, then drew an arc connecting the marks. I used a large pair of scissors to cut along that line. When I saw the resulting panel, I immediately thought of one of the sketches here in the Sketch Challenge forum. I looked it up in my binder, where I keep printouts of lots of sketches, so I could get the measurements.
I cut a piece of gingham patterned paper that was on my desk, left over from another project, to 3/4" wide, and adhered it to an A2-size panel of green cardstock. I glued down my embossed piece against the gingham strip. I felt it needed a greeting, so I decided to make it a get well card. I stamped the greeting in Cheerful ink onto a strip of yellow cardstock, cut the left end into a fishtail banner, and adhered it to my card front. I finished by adhering my card front to a white card base.
