This is for Lisa's fun "Ways to Use it" challenge - gel and other mediums.
Normally I keep my large bottle of clear liquid craft glue in the fridge and just decant small amounts into a little bottle I keep on my desk.
Back in January we had several days of 45C/113F and I forgot to put the big bottle of glue back in the fridge. When I took the lid off, glue erupted everywhere. I grabbed a piece of cardstock, but the glue kept flying out.
Fortunately my art journal was open and had a nice coat of dried gesso on it. I held the book up and caught the glue as it was falling back down toward the table.
I could only get the glue to fall on half the pages...and yes, the quickest way to get glue out of your hair , is to cut it off LOL.
The smell from the pressurised glue was even more startling than watching glue spurt 5 foot in the air! Lisa's challenge provide the inspiration I needed to do something with this double page of glue.
On the left hand page only, I applied Jane Davenport acrylic paint - spreading it out with a credit card, I then squirted a bit of water on both pages, then shut the book and pressed really hard all over it.
I continued with various shades of blue and green paint and water, using the same method. In between each coat of paint, I used a baby wipe to remove as much paint as possible from the glue.
The last paint I applied was Jane Davenport silver metallic paint, watered down slightly and plopped on with a scrunched up baby wipe.
All the images are printed onto copy paper, then coloured with Prismacolour pencils, Zest it and a colourless blending pencil. Copic highlights were added.
On the big mermaid, I badly mucked up the pencil colouring, so I used Jane Dav flesh coloured acrylic paint and gave her a new face. The paint is beautiful and works a treat on copy paper. Once she was dry, I coloured her again using pencils.
The glue was so thick and solid that I was able to slide a blade under it and lift it from the page in some sections. I slid some parts of the images underneath the strands of glue.
Sorry I'm a bit late. This took a couple of days, and I enjoyed every second! Thanks so much for looking.
Edit. The little mermaid was from my stash, she had dodgy eyes, hence the sunglasses.

WOW! Only you could turn a mess into a work of art like this! Your coloring just blows me away, from the highlights
in the hair to the shadows at the collarbone. The eyes look so real! The background, amazing. I’ve studied this for quite some time just trying to learn how you use color and get such saturation. Of course I’m still wishing for that video!

Well darn it, I've got to go and set up notifications again because I didn't get one for this, or for Francie last week. Wow, glue behaves like that in the heat!! I'm glad I've never experienced it. At least that must have been when you could still get a proper haircut to tidy up the initial emergency disaster response. The glue makes amazing snaky tendrils of weed. It has something of the look of the hot glue embossing, only in your choice of colour unlimited by embossing powder. What an amazing pair of art journal pages, Susie.

You are a pure and true ARTIST!!!!!!! Not only do we enjoy your masterpieces, but your description makes us all smile. That is a special gift. I kept thinking if this happened to me, would have probably closed the journal and it would have been glued shut. Your coloring on the images is amazing and all the elements are stunning! TFS
