I couldn't resist adding another card to the Art Blooms Teapot Challenge this week. When I spied this cool stamp at Impression Obsessions and having read Paper Garden: Mrs Delany Begins Her Life's Work at 72 I just had to collect it and USE it!
My watercoloring skills are nothing to write home about, but I can only get better with doing more, right? I used Derwent Watercolor pencils to color the stack of books and the flowers on top. It needed something more though. I decided it would be a center from a Dogwood blossom. I also use a bit of vintage seam binding across the top.
...books, flowers, stamps, just a few of my favorite things. Thanks for stopping by.

What a cool image, Susan. And lovely colours - both the deep pink and the light blue remind me of some of the old cloth-bound books that used to be on our bookcases growing up. For sure one improves with practice! I look back at my earliest cards and wince.

Oh yes that's the perfect stamp for this challenge and my parents said you learn from every failure and from every fall when you get up again!!
I love the texture you've added.

What a great looking card with the books piled up and flowers on top! I have some very old books that belonged to my great grandmother. The handwriting inside is gorgeous. Too bad the kid’s aren’t learning cursive in school.
Think I will work on Teapot tomorrow. Today was doing more weeding......Will have to look for the book your mentioned ...

This stamp is so perfect for today's challenge - not only flowers but obviously the history behind Mary Delaney who I think will be my new mixed media, paper piecing muse! Well, no wonder that dimensional flower center looks so real . . .I would never have thought to include a REAL flower center.

This is just fabulous Susan! I love this image and how appropriate for your challenge too- fun! I struggle with water coloring myself, but you did a lovely job on your image. I love the added flower and vintage seam binding too. What a terrific card this is! ~Karen.
