Hi friends,
I have to start with, I could kill my reddish brown pens, they were REALLY acting up today, almost tempted to throw them away and start over. I even changed the nib on one and it is still gunky!! My poor horse suffered the consequences!! This is totally me in the image (well, a young me, LOL!)
From my first memory I loved horses and wanted horses. My dad was a horseman and in fact was in the horse Cavalry before WWII then when the war started he joined the Navy.
Anyway, seems I was born with horses in my soul.
So my card today is sort of like my first horse (he was a stinker) My last horse was my love, he was reddish too but also had a red mane as well. He used to do a soft whiney when I would come down. He'd follow me around too...we loved each other.
Unfortunately I developed arthritis in my lower back and was unable to ride any more about 10 years ago so we had to give our horses to someone who would ride them, my hubby said it wasn't fair to keep them like pets.
I miss putting my nose in Doc's neck and just smelling him. I miss that soft whiney talk. I miss being one with him when I rode but I do still have my memories!!
Thanks for looking!

Ohhhhhh mate, you and I need to have a long talk. I think your horse looks fabulous. If this looked anymore real, it could be the horse head from The Godfather! I digress, I love the easel design and "little you" looks precious too!

I love your memory of horses. The first time I saw one, I couldn't believe how BIG they were. YOur card is wonderful, and your coloring looks fine to me.

Robin, this is such a sweet memory! So sorry you can’t ride anymore! It’s hard to give up a pet! Thanks for sharing the story about your dad!
Your card is gorgeous! TFS

What a beautiful image and lovely story, Robin. I can tell this little girl really loves her special friend. I love your pretty color palette and card design. The sentiment is perfect. How blessed you are to have such wonderful memories of your love for horses, especially your sweet Doc.
btw: Sometimes when my markers get shiny and gunky, it helps to clean out the cap. The solvent base gets sticky in there.

Awe what a great story of growing up with horses. I never lived with horses as my mom had an accident with one when I was very little and when they moved they sold the horses and did not get any more after her accident. I love your super stunning card with this wonderful image.

Your drawn and colored horse is beautiful!! I took the cheaters way out and printed one off the internet. It must have been neat to have horses in your life.

Oh, what a darling card, Robin, and a sweet post to go with it. Your horse is colored perfectly. And, I am thinking that is just what you looked like as a girl.
