I made this card for the Color Challenge and Misti Monday Challenge, which both feature this year's color Pantone blue.
I'm taking an online card class, "The Coloring Challenge Road Trip," and today I focused on using blue for our lesson.
I stamped image in "Barely There" amalgam ink so I could add my own lines later after coloring with Copic markers. The lesson today taught me how to lift Copic color from my background using Copic Various Ink colorless blender fluid using a small piece of a wash cloth for texture.
After I created the background, I took my black Micron pen and outlined areas of image before coloring. I colored with my Copic markers, adding darker shadows with my colored pencils. Then, I went back in and added black lines where they were needed and also, used white gel pen on the snow. One key thing I've learned from the class is to leave a "sweet spot" or area of white in your images to create contrast and depth. I tend to over-color images.

Your horses are beautifully colored. And I see that sweet spot of white. It does make a difference, doesn't it? Your blue background is a great contrast. Well done!

This makes a fun twist on the color challenge with the addition of those warmer colored neutrals. That textured sky adds a lot of interest to this delightful Christmas card.

Awesome! I love the way you colored those horses and the sky is dynamite. I like the snow on the fence, also. Sounds like a great class.
