I've always liked to be a little different, and in this case, that was required by necessity. I didn't have any plastic ornaments, so thought long and hard on what I could use as a substitute. I finally remembered that we had some short plastic drink cups, so that is what I ended up using. They didn't fit a canning jar, so at the moment, this is not connected to a jar. I cut some circles from chipboard for the base. The snow is quilt batting. I had some little wooden house magnets, upon which a bit of surgery was required to remove the magnets. The tree is made from corrugated cardboard circles with some layers of cardstock in between each layer. I painted them green, and then added some white for snow. Unfortunately, when I glued the tree to the base, I didn't press it down very hard, so it is a bit wobbly.
I'm not real thrilled with the whole thing, but feel good that I actually figured how to make it without the necessary supplies.
