I'll admit it, one of my faults is I get very attached to people and stuff. Even my Goodwill and resale shop stuff. In honor of the Hometalk website, which is all about DIY and recycling, I used some of my cardstock scraps, a broken china plate and a butterfly cut from some old needlework.
For some reason, I started getting the Hometalk emails, so I was familiar with it. I had bought some old handpainted china at Goodwill, a plate broke during one of my moves but I kept the larger pieces; I purposely broke one into smaller pieces, sanded the edges and it is now a little vase for my diecut leaves and flowers. I just bought this really old needlework, it was in bad shape and extremely dirty; but there are a bunch of butterflies on it and I knew that would make for some cute embellishments.

Well, you are the clever and creative one. Your vase is so pretty from the broken dish and the butterfly is so pretty. Don't you wonder about the person who made it? I always think of those things. I love your sentiment to go with this special card.

Fav’ed #2! Fantastic use of your found and rescued items as well as having the vision for artfully making the greater part of the whole. I love the crisp and modern look comingled with the beautiful stamped Victorian sentiment.
I say you’ve struck a balance in rescuing no longer loved items.

Jean, this is beautiful. What a marvelous way to recycle your thrift store treasures! The china is beautiful as a vase for the flowers. Love how your sentiment proclaims the theme of your card.
