This "Layered Die Cut See-Through" card was made for the Try Stampin' on Tuesday Sketch Challenge #416 with the optional theme "Christmas in July". I love the look of the see-through snowflakes!
I had seen Jennifer McGuire create a beautiful floral see-through die cut card (https://www.jennifermcguireink.com/2...giveaway.html), and thought it would be a good technique to use with snowflake die cuts. She recommends using 110 lb weight cardstock to give stability to the card front. I used 80 and 90 weight paper, which I would consider the MINIMUM weight to use for this technique. The stiffer the better, and the more solid your die-cuts the better. My shapes were snowflakes, but with the center panel and the white vertical panels, I got away with lighter weight and more open shapes.
I started by cutting out three different snowflake shapes using my Brother ScanNCut CM350 digital cutter. I had found the free snowflake cut files online. Two of the snowflakes I layered using Stampin' Up! (SU) Pool Party and Soft Sky cardstock. The smaller flake was cut out of SU Whisper White. I cut a total of eight large flakes, and 16 smaller ones.
Please refer to Jennifer's excellent video tutorial on how to build the lacy panel, and to create the two-fold inside of the card to allow you to write a personal message inside without it showing from the outside.
I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "4" out of a possible "5". This card takes patience and time to create, but the impact it gives is worth it!!!
