Stef's got a soothing color combination for us this week: Balmy Blue, Coastal Cabana and tranquil Tide with leaves for dessert. I couldn't resist checking out how this trio would blend together on a background and when I reached for paper to try it on, grabbed a piece of vellum. You have to take a little more care to avoid fingerprints on the vellum edges but I ended up trimming this anyway. This Bonsai tree is from a set that will be retiring soon but it was perfect for fulfilling the dessert option. I stamped it in Tranquil Tide on the vellum and colored it using a Coastal Cabana Marker on the back. I carefully added a little more on the front to brighten it a bit. Lastly, I solved the problem of attaching the vellum to the white by adding a Tranquil Tide frame cut with the rectangle dies. That way I could apply the adhesive just under the frame.

Super clever to use a rectangle frame. I loved reading your detailed description and all the care you took with the vellum. You are really rocking the ombre effect between this week and last. Beautiful creation! Great stamp choice for this challenge. (And I love the phrase too. Sorry it’s retiring.)

My goodness, Chris, blending and stamping on vellum can be tricky but you've done it so perfectly, and with that touching sentiment, created such a lovely, serene card! Love it!

Just Wow, Chris! The ink blending on the vellum is masterful, darker on the bottom, seamless blending of the two colors, and light at the top. A perfect background for your beautiful Bonsai tree. Great coloring and great sentiment, too.

I love your choice for this challenge, Chris. My DH had bonsai for years, and we so enjoyed the plants. The framing is wonderful!
