Yay it's Tickle a Teapotter time of the month and Jan aka Precious Kitty has written a beautiful poem and invited us to be inspired by our favourite childhood story.
Whilst Anne of Green Gables and Heidi were my absolute favourites, I always loved The Little Mermaid, the Hans Christian Andersen version, which definitely didn't have the same happy ending as Disney's Little Mermaid.
The background was cut from the A4 sheet I made for Polly's fabulous Mixed Media challenge last week. I covered an A4 sheet of cardstock with crumpled metal roofing tape (scrunch up the tape before removing the protective adhesive backing).
Once the sheet was completely covered, using an eye dropper, I put 3 drops of blue ink on the foil, tilted the sheet and let the ink dribble. I then spread it around a bit with an old brush, then hit it with the heatgun.
I repeated this process with turquoise ink, again heat setting it. Once dry the ink is permanent. I cut off a small rectangle to make last weeks card and another 4.5"square of it for this card. I've got plenty left for a few more cards.
The little Mermaid was printed onto copy paper, coloured with Prismacolour pencils, Zest-it Pencil blend, Copic highlights and a gazillion liquid pearls and Stickles. I used super fine gold thread to embellish her hair. At the time of taking this photo, she is not adhered to the card properly, the liquid pearls are taking ages to dry.
Thank you for looking and I hope you have a happy inky week.

Oh my gosh Susie! This is SPECTACULAR! Love the background and I'll have to get some of that metal roofing tape and try that technique.
Your mermaid is gorgeous and I love all the liquid pearls and Stickles on her head and tail. BEAUTEOUS!

Wow, Susie, you've done it again! Love your beautiful mermaid - you sure use those liquid pearls well - and the ocean bg looks amazing. Heidi was my favourite book growing up, still have my 3 copies - Heidi, Heidi Grows Up & Heidi's Children!

The hair just blew me away on this! I had to read and scroll back several times and what a delight this is! You are the queen of mixed media and the coloring is fabulous! I love that you can use the liquid pears and get real round dots instead of ice cream cones like I get. So when can I come for my lessons?

There is that awesome background again, Susie! Love it! The card is another magnificent one with a mermaid that you colored and decorated beautifully. I love her hairpiece and the long gold thread. She would make any mermaid jealous of her beauty. Great artwork, my friend!

Wow! Where did you dig up that ancient pic of me from so very long ago...grinning from ear to ear, but then Cheshire Cat is another venture down the rabbit hole, right?
Remarkable, mf. Your talent is boundless.

Well, didn't you ever find the perfect use for that leftover background. What a wonderful setting for your so-cute little mermaid. Her hair is simply wow - and her tail is pretty amazing looking too.

Sis Vicki is going to go Gaga over this one. Your little mermaid is truly a masterpiece. Her tail, her hair her everything couldn’t be more mermaidy. I love this . She is the kind of mermaid I’d like to be. My favorite book was Alice in Wonderland then Black Beauty.n
