Every year, DH's calligraphy club does a Valentine party and a really big deal Valentine Exchange. I've been working on this card in my mind since early January, and literally it's been on my workspace for a couple of weeks. The good news? I only have to make one for the swap and one personal one for DH.
NOTE: You may have to stroll through a few pictures in my gallery to see all the details.
I started with a wet sheet of watercolor paper and added Night of Navy reinker with an Aquapainter. Darker at the bottom and lighter at the top. Let it dry. Used a toothbrush to flick silver and then scored the folds.
Stamped the moon (Altenew's stamp set made this easy and fun!), cut out and mounted on fun foam circle. Positioned in the corner and cut out circles in each layer to allow a peek hole for the moon from back to front of the card.
Used part of the the lyrics to Blue Moon printed on vellum using 12 point Steelworks Vintage font. Then I set out to find other images (besides that big full moon) to illustrate the lyrics. I stamped the hiker from Seize the Day on the first panel. The cliff is extended with aquapainter and marker. Then I reached back to the past for the pensive girl in the boat from Summer by the Sea (retired) and stamped her facing the hiker. The final image is new--from the Occasions mini. Both the boat girl and the couple were color lifted to give a bleached out effect.
The vellum was cut and attached with star gems. Belly band made of a pony tail elastic--charm attached and silver cording bow tied.
Instead of an envelope, I chose a canvas pouch decorated with a gold stenciled heart. I used suede for the drawstring and attached charms and tassels. A clip actually closes the pouch and holds the tassels in place.
