So as usual I am late to the party. I stumbled on to this WT723 I Hereby Resolve challenge searching through challenges that I don't usually look into as I can barely keep up with the Monday e" Wednesday challenges. But I decided that I would take the plunge and hereby resolve to be less fearful of making mistakes, I see so many folks make lemonade from what they consider lemons and post beautiful cards; and of background challenges, I want to play more with watercolor techniques. In addition, I want to make more cards and post more comments e" there are so many beautiful cards out there.
I have two cards to post for the WT723 challenge. The first is also for the CAS518 mashup challenge. For this card, I embossed the red panel and then cut an oval in the center. The back panel is my first attempt using the Brusho powder, which I have had for a while but have to too adverse to jump in and sprinkle some powder. For this, I sprinkled cobalt blue, ultramarine and Ost red onto wet paper. It didn't quite create the intended look I was going for but then I had a vision for this card and added the small dragonflies cut from white glitter paper. I added the ribbon and butterfly for a bit of contrast. I made this card for a friend who is having a difficult surgery next month and so I want to send her some encouraging cards to keep her spirits up. I embossed the top sentiment as I didn't think the craft white would show up as well on the textured red panel. It smudges a bit and I almost tanked the card but decided to be brave and let if fly. This card is sure to bring a smile to your friends face! The sparkly white dragonfly diecuts are a lovely contrast to the red card base. And that Brusho background adds a cool patriotic flair to the card. I have had the same experience working with Brusho- the result is not as envisioned, but fun and interesting despite that! Ha...glad to hear that you are trying to quash the perfection gene that affects so many of us stampers. I deal with it regularly, not always successfully! Good luck to you with your cardmaking goals. TFS this bright and cheery card!

Brushos are lovely but entirely unpredictable ( unless you simply dilute them in water, which kind of defeats the purpose!). I think your piece looks lovely, very rich and textured. And I really like the combination of both dragonflies and butterfly. It's hard to stamp small sentiments on textured card, I think you did well.
