I have been wanting to try this particular sketch, and decided this was the perfect image for it. After I sized the image in Photoshop, I printed it onto a piece of watercolor paper. I die cut it with a circle die, & painted the ornament with my Mission Gold watercolors. I used the Blue Gold color from the Starry Colors palette to paint the beak, band around the neck, spots on the wing & tail, and the circle around the bird's eye. I also used a black glaze pen to go over the eye, and a white gel pen for the highlight in the eye.
I cut my patterned paper panels to size, and used the upper piece as a guide for where to cut the corner of my focal circle. I added the patterned paper to a kraft card front, & glued on my focal circle. For the strip on the sketch, I used a piece of red satin ribbon. To make sure there was no overhang on the sides of my card front when I attached it to the card base, before I attached the ribbon, I used temporary adhesive to stick my card front to the card base. I did have to trim off some excess from the card front, but at least the ribbon wasn't in the way! I removed the card front, and adhered the ends of the ribbon to the back. Finally, I adhered the panel to my card base with ATG adhesive.
