Another of my favorite styles of cards to make is a scene with masking, and sponging. Penny black has so many stamps that work well for this and the Birches stamp is my most recent addition to my collection.
Stamped the trees and masked, masked off the bottom section of card for snow and also masked for a moon. Sponged my sky colors, stamped more trees along the horizon, spritzed with water/blotted, splattered with black, blue and white acrylic paint, removed masks, stamped sentiment. Added just a bit of sponging to the moon so it wouldn't look so white and then a bit of sponging for some shadow at the base of the birches. LOVE making this type of card and I thank Heather Telford for all her examples and tutorials explaining her process!
