OK, here's the deal.... I was playing in the craft room and came up with a way to make pretty darned impressive opals using Pixie Powders and Glossy Accents. Tried a couple methods, and produced 4 usable "stones"- one of which is the center for this October birthday for my sister-in-law, as it is her birthstone. Cut the oval for the stone 3 times from heavy white cs and layered for thickness and to keep from warping. Cut one layer of Blue Satin cs, and glued to the layered base. Mixed Pixie Powders with Glossy Accents, and spread onto oval die cut. Let dry overnight. Next day, added another layer of Glossy Accents to the oval, and let dry overnight. Meanwhile, layered the gold stripe cs onto card base, die cut layers using Sue Wilson dies and both Blue Satin cs & gold mirror board. Layered the die cuts onto the card, then cut letters from the gold mirror board, and added the name to the card. Glued the "opal" in the center of the die cuts, then added the oval ring around the stone, which was also 3 layers of heavy white cs, topped by a layer of gold mirror board. Had to add the trios of small light blue gems at the sides of the center stone to cover glue showing through the blue die cut (darn it!), then added dark blue gems to the 4 corners of the card. There is just no way to show you in a photo just how much this looks like an opal!
PIXIE POWDERS ARE METALLIC- YOU WILL NOT GET THIS LOOK WITH COLOR BURSTS OR BRUSHOS!!!

Pat, I am speechless - this is beyond stunning my friend. I hope your SIL goes running through the house when she opens this card because she is so deliriously happy with it. Your opal technique is a real winner my friend - no wonder you are so pleased with the results. Now I am going to have to buy some Pixie Powders you know- ha! I give this card a 10! ~Karen.
