My sweet MIL turns 93 next month. She loves fans, and if we see a particularly nice one any time we are on holidays we will buy it for her - so I knew I wanted to use this die on her card. I started by colouring some tissue paper with Mermaid Markers and gold shimmer and letting it dry. Then I coated it with Mod Podge and laid the pieces of the fan on top and added another coat of Mod Podge.
Yesterday I cut them all out and attached them together with a red brad after filling in all the butterflies with gold Twinkling H2Os, and set about creating a background with an oriental feel that wouldn't be too overpowering.
I decided to use the Faux Linen technique. I used two stamps from Embrace Life, and a little butterfly to pick up on the ones in the fan. I added some chunky white EP, then edged it with gold Stickles, matted it on black and then cut a 6" square card base.
Finally I added two little gold butterflies, embossed for texture and outlined with a black Sharpie. It's really hard to get a good picture of this :-(.
The sentiment was stamped and embossed in gold on black, and edged with red Stickles. I embossed the die into gold card and cut a gold matting layer, then popped it up on foam over the lacy base layer.

Stupendous...this is sooo gorgeous. I love the Asian feel. The little butterflies in the bg matching the butterflies on the fan look awesome. The red color for the fan is a perfect choice. Wish your MIL a wonderful b-day.
