Today's technique is the type that I struggle with. I get frustrated with my paper curling up and not getting the results that I hoped for at the start. But I gave it a try anyway. I wanted to make a good background to try out my new Power Poppy Dahlia XL stamp that I ordered for my prize from their March challenge. I've always LOVED this stamp and I'm so excited to have added it to my collection! I spread out the dahlia color and the sky color and spritzed with water and dipped my paper in it. Dried with heat tool and repeated. Three of four times. I added some splatter with water and also touched up a couple of petals with a brush. After I stamped the flower and the sentiment, I thought it needed something else. Then I remembered that I got butterfly silhouettes in the Brandi Lea SVG Bundle that I just picked up from The Hungry JPEG. So I cut out a couple of butterflies and glued them on. Much more finished looking now. So far the panel is laying pretty flat, so I think this was a success. Thanks for the challenge, Judy!

Oh, Jen, this is gorgeous! Your background is amazing, and I love the colors. Just love the sentiment too, and the butterflies definitely finish it off! So happy that you won and are enjoying your March winnings! Hugs, sweet friend! xoxo

Wow, that dahlia is fab, and you did well creating such a focussed background for it with the right colours in the right places. The butterflies make a fantastic finishing touch.
Sometimes, if I remember before I've added anything like Liquid Pearls, I find that passing a slightly warped piece through the Big Shot does a lot to make it lie flat again. And mostly I like more predictable techniques too - this is one where I usually just use it to add a bit of interest to the background. I think if I started out with an idea in mind, for sure I would get frustrated!

That dahlia is gorgeous and the color combo brings the eye right to it! Those tiny dimensional butterflies provide a nice distraction in your segue from the orange / yellow to the blue.

I love this card, particularly the way the colors and the images work together.
I, too, have problems with my paper not lying flat. Combine that with the fact that watercolor paper doesn’t always want to work with adhesive well, and I end up with something that doesn’t wanna stay adhered to a card. I am going to try to run it through my diecut machine. Hoping that works.

If you did not have this flower planned to use with this background, you were very lucky or had great insight to use it, because it fits so perfectly! Great background and card!
