A rare Monday off, all the floors already washed after the last of the snow melted on Friday, and DH meeting friends after work meaning no cooking, have conspired to let me have some crafting time and make two cards for Judy's Gilded Faux Silk] TLC challenge today. You'll find the link to the tutorial in her challenge post.
I'll be back with the second card after some drying time (and housework) but in the meantime here's my first offering. I had some beautiful cling-wrap background I aimed to use for the dragon, but alas, I was lazy and didn't tape it to the die, and it moved...you know the rest. I made another piece in a rush and it came out beautifully but not really dragon-like, so I just used some old scrap paper. I inlaid his wings with matt gold but didn't like the look, so I coloured them with a green marker. He's buffed with some copper and gold rub-ons.
For my silk piece I stamped with the small flowers and foliage from Embrace Life I used assorted red inks for sponging, and gold for my gilding.
The ground is some metallic patterned paper embossed with the crackle ef and sponged with Brushed Corduroy.
He needs a catchlight in his eye, but the enamel accents haven't set yet ;-). Also not sure what sentiment to use that will result in a card I will use...don't have much call for good luck. I'll add something when the time comes.

Gorgeous! I love the red bg, so pretty using this technique. And the embossed bottom works well to provide a base for your dragon..that dragon is way cool!

Oh Sabrina, yet another card to drool over (okay, I go through the gallery from newest to oldest and "page through" until I reach a point where the cards are familiar - at least when time permits). This card is so lovely! And, you know, the sentiment is perfect for the inside - The lovely dragon and background stand alone beautifully. Thank you so much for sharing and again, you may well be responsible for destroying my budget, because that dragon die has captivated me (and so many card recipients seem to be friends of dragons). Have a wonderful day! TFS!

Your card is absolutely stunning Sabrina! Gosh, you captured the total feel for your wonderful dragon in this glorious bg you created. I love this gilded dragon image and I am looking to buy this myself now. It really is nice to read that not every attempt we make in creating is what we are desiring. You have an arsenal of "rescues" though which is inspiring to read about. I am super impressed with your gorgeous card! ~Karen.
