Hello, sweet friends! "All by myself" is what I think this flower is thinking (and now you may well have that song in your head for a while, right?). This is a single flower from the newest Power Poppy release, but the main image is a "whopper" and absolutely gorgeous! I wasn't up to coloring it and decided to color this lovely "single" hellebore and found some beautiful inspiration photos. While I didn't capture the warmth of my flower in this photo (and wish I had used only pencils for the entire image to give it the detail and warmth it deserved), I enjoyed coloring it. I tend to get stuck trying to make it as realistic as my inspiration photos and forget to allow myself some artistic freedom. (Coloring has been a lifesaver for me to rest and relax.) I tried all sorts of ideas on how to finish the card and was inspired to use a stencil. But nothing I tried worked (mixed media still eludes me). I even tried some pointillism again, but I couldn't find the right color(s). So, I just added some shading in areas for depth, matted it, and used a scallop/stitched base. One of the fun things about this one (giving away my tricks here now...) is being able to make a photocopy of it and then enhance the areas that didn't copy well with markers and/or pencils to look as good if not (and hopefully) better than the original. So, I'll definitely be making more of this card....and I am definitely going to try to be more daring with those! As many know, Marcella Hawley always inspires us by sharing what each element is. And just wait till you see what she has done with it! Wow!
Thanks so much for taking a closer look at my card! I am always so touched my your comments.
While we've had absolutely beautiful weather here, my heart is aching for South Florida after the horrific shooting not too far south and west from where we live. Keeping everyone involved in our prayers. Definitely needed for so many as our hearts break. I do know that God is my strength and comfort and know that many will help all those who are dealing with the aftermath of this devastating event. Tender hugs, all!

Yes, I got that song stuck in my head now! LOL! But this flower is just unbelievably realistically colored, that I'm sure it doesn't mind being all by itself! I love the scalloped and stitched frame - it goes perfectly with the flower...and joining you in prayer for the Florida victims...

I dont know how you do it!
The layering-the EXACT right size of the red layer inside the stitched edge...you always knock me out! It's one thing to do the layer around the image layer...but that is something else.
Omgosh...the song! LOL.
You already know what a groupie I am about your coloring

Just beautiful, Cheryl. I had to run over to Power Poppy and see the complete image. It is a beauty...your single bloom or a full image. Every time I see someone talk about using pencils for coloring, I want to get mine out. Been so long since I used them. Copics, pencils, or a combination of both, you always make your cards look fabulous.

Oh my, Cheryl! The floral image is stunning and your coloring is remarkable!! I love the beautiful card, Cheryl!! When I see a card from you in the gallery, I get excited as that means to me that you must be feeling some better. I keep you in my prayers, sweet sis! And, yes, we should keep in our prayers the parents and children of the horrific tragedy in our state! God bless them all. (Thanks for sharing a tip!)
