The Friday Free For All Challenge, F4A414 - All the Love -1/26/18, was to make a card for someone you love, and if desired, included a heart or love to add a "love-ly" touch.
I decided to go with a heart theme, and the sentiment that ended up fitting on the heart was not a Valentine one. This was annoying, but after it was done, I realized it could be used for many different occasions - General Hello, get well, thinking of you or Valentine. Yeah for multiple uses!
The inspiration for this card was a rescued piece from a paritially assembled card that I made way back in 2002 (?). That salvaged piece was the hand cut tag with the little possum dangling from a delicate wire hanger. I couldn't bear to throw out that darling hanger, and since the possum was already colored I was determined to use it too!
This was an amazingly frustrating card to design and assemble. It was going to be a CAS design on a white card base with only the branch, the possum tag and the stitched heart. Well, after an hour or so of fiddling with every layout I could think of, my dear hubby walked in the room and came up with a solution in under 30 seconds. He suggested that I dangle the heart on the hanger with the tag, which got the clunky heart out of the corner and into the sweet spot on the card. Dang it, why couldn't I think of that?!!!!
After that design roadblock was removed from my mind, I decided to ditch the white cardbase and go with Woodgrain. The frame was added when I discovered that the tree branch looked like it was floating in thin air and needed something to ground it....good grief, after adding that I realized there were no other prominent red elements on the card!!! Ugh...I hate it when I don't think ahead. My "fix" was to add tiny red die cut hearts, with the thought that they look like they are trickling down from heaven and being caught by the possum.
Thanks so much for swinging by to steal a peek at my possum. A happy hello to you, from the heart!

Your card is adorable!!! Don't you just hate it when you sit for an hour fiddling?! I usually ask my daughter and she has a helpful idea. I don't know what I will do when she leaves home! This is such a fun card with the hanger, tag and heart! I love the wood grain too!

I love your card and all your efforts were rewarded. I like to read about hubby's helping in the creative tasks LOL....the heart dangling next to that cute possum is awesome. I love the use of the hanger. It's only the second time I've seen this done...another was on a youtube video for a canvas which had a dress hanging from a hanger...it was also amazing. Great card. TFS Happy day
