I needed a creative way to package a gift card for my mom for Christmas. I found the Split Top Box tutorial that I'd pinned, and figured it would be perfect! I did alter the dimensions to make it smaller, so it would fit the gift card better. The box was a breeze to make, following the excellent instructions! The hardest part was cutting & gluing the itty bitty pieces of patterned paper for the angled sides of the top of the box! Especially since I didn't stop to think that they were mirror images of each other, so I ended up having to cut 2 more to replace the 2 that I'd cut backwards. :P My box didn't want to stay closed especially, so I decided to add a belly band. I die cut a doily from white cardstock, and glued that to a strip of blue cardstock (the same as I'd used for the box) that I wrapped around the box. I added some mini ornaments that I got on sale at Michael's for further decoration, and this box was done! My mom was really impressed when she took it out of her Christmas stocking & opened it!
