I've had a horrible run on sympathy cards recently, and since this is going to the same family I made 3 different cards (for different members), I couldn't use any of my spares from December.
I took my inspiration from THIS card by scrapbook4ever, which I came across when I was listing my favourites of the year. Lots of masking and sponging, stamped the sentiment and then added the border.

Gorgeous card, Sabrina! I am going to look at scrapbook4ever to see how you did this ! Or I could look at our tutorials. In any case, you did an awesome job!

Sympathy cards are always tough, and it seems that the need for them certainly goes in streaks at times. I am sorry for your loss. :( Beautiful job on the card - it is both comforting and uplifting, which I am sure the recipients appreciate!

This is so perfect for a sympathy card, Sabrina, and what a splendid job you did creating it.
