I made this card for 2 challenges - the Alphabet Challenge for the letter Q which in my card is for the 4 quadrants. And the Free For All Challenge to make a card for your favorite holiday in December. And optional, add a little sparkle which I did with the gem berries. For this card I started off with one panel of white cs, then stamped each pine branch and pine cone one at a time in the versamark ink pad. Immediately remove your stamp from the versarmark pad and tap it in the color you are using (brown or green), then stamp it on your cardstock very firmly. Immediately pour heat n stick powder over the stamped image and heat with heat tool just until "wet" looking, then stop heating. Now pour SU Dazzling Diamonds glitter on top and heat again with heat tool until the glitter becomes rather hard and sparkly which means it is set. It only takes a few moments and you can see this happening when you are heating it. I did this process 8 times to get this background. Then it looked too stark on the white so I took a sponge and added in Tim Holtz antique linen and tea dye inks to distress it a bit. Well to be honest, this panel looked nice, but it felt flat and a bit boring actually. I was stumped. I found this cardinal stamp in my stash and decided they were the right size to make an ornament with so rolled with that. The image is colored with copic markers, then I used Tim Holtz distress inks in antique linen and tea dyed so it matches the bg. I tried adding berries using Nuvo drops and a pearl pen, but they would not stick due to all the glitter so I ended up gluing these gems in place with tombo glue. The read bow completes this image. After I took this picture, I added another gem to the middle of the bow. I have a monster migraine today so I did not take another picture that shows the gem in the middle of the bow. Also, because this card is 6.75" square, I had to cut 2 panels in red and hinge them on the inside. I cut a strip of red cs, punched both sides with a decorative punch, attached a piece of ivory cs on the right side for my sentiment, then taped and glued the hinge in place so the pretty punching lays over the ivory sentiment piece. I was pleased how this turned out, but I forgot to take a photo of this too. Thank you for looking today. ~Karen.
