WhatÂ’s not to love about wood? I couldnÂ’t resist making another card for the Friday Free For All Challenge, F4A406 Into the Eoods We Go 12/1/17, which was to use something wood on your project.
I was able to include 3 wood elements in this card: the fun Tree Rings background stamped panel, the Pinewood Planks dry embossed piece and die cut pine sprigs.
While I was making the first card for this challenge, I happened upon some dandy leftovers in my possibles box which is what lead to this card. The stamped tree rings panel was salvaged from a poorly stamped image. I fussy cut the outside edge to highlight the fun circles of the tree rings, and sponged the edges with Baked Brown Sugar ink. I used the same ink on the inside of the Pinewood Planks EF to get the matching wood grain detail (and, yes, I put the ink on the wrong side of the inside of the EF the first time. That panel went into my possibles box for another time! Ha...)
The deer and fawn were stamped in the same ink, only because I didnÂ’t know how to color them. I resorted to a brush of Wink of Stella over them, which smeared the dye ink....not my intent, but it did add a bit of brown shading that was kind of interesting.
In an effort to keep the deer from disappearing into the wood background, I tucked a couple of diecut pine sprigs behind them, and then finished the card with a handcut sentiment panel.
I intended this to be a Christmas card, however plans changed when I couldnÂ’t find a Christmas sentiment that fit the size of the tag I wanted to use. So it goes with my style of card making - what I end up with is most often surprise!
Thanks for swinging by and looking at my deer in the meadow. Playing along in this Free For all wood-challenge was so much fun - Please join us!
