Another card for this week's TLC657 challenge. I can't remember the last time I had a mid-week day off work except for taking it off to visit my dad, I kind of feel on holidays this afternoon knowing I don't have to get up tomorrow morning. So I made this - and I'm tagging it for Jeanne's MIX challenge too, as I used a mister on the sky on the front, and white acrylic paint as well as Stickles and white glitter on the foam, so that's the mixed media base covered.
There's a link to the step pop-up tutorial in the first post in the challenge thread (linked above). I cut my base from kraft, and stamped the front with Wonderfully Worn using Tea Dye distress. Stamped the sea image on white card and coloured with pencils and sponged distress inks, extending it a tiny bit with a black pen to fill the frame. It's matted onto a piece of white card embossed with an abstract wave design. Being a gift and not one I bought, I can never remember the manufacturer. American Crafts??
Inside, I die-cut the aperture. Then I stamped the fence, using markers and then colouring over the fence with a brown pencil. I stamped the sentiment (in case it's hard to read, it says
He caused the storm to be still
So that the waves of the sea were hushed (Psalm 107:29).
I sponged all the sand area with Scattered Straw, then masked off the sentiment area and stamped Wonderfully Worn with Tea Dye.
I like the TE cloud embossing folder as it works in landscape format - I used that to emboss above the fence line, somewhat masked the clouds with Microglaze and then sponged with Tumbled Glass.
The lighthouse was stamped on white card, masked, and the sea and sky sponged in, then I used pencils to add shading and colour the rest. The pelican is my pop-up element. I added a small piece of white card sponged and stamped to match the rest of the "sand" to fill in the bit of kraft base that was showing.

Sabrina, this is fabulous! The white acrylic paint captured the ocean spray perfectly. The embossed clouds and stamped fence are a striking frame for the lighthouse scene.
